1. 12th Hel.A.S. Conference - Update

The 12th Conference of our Society is approaching and we are all very excited! Please check the web-site ( http://www.helas.gr/conf/2015 ) for the final Program of Oral and Poster presentations and information concerning the on-line Proceedings.

2. Hel.A.S. Directory - Confirm your Membership Info

All members of the Society are strongly encouraged to visit the online membership directory of Hel.A.S. (available in English as well as in Greek) in order to verify that their personal information, including postal address, membership status, e-mail and phone/fax numbers, is correct. If you notice a mistake on your record, or that of a colleague, please inform the Secretary of Hel.A.S. (Prof. K. Tsiganis). The Society relies on this information for all mailings to the members.

In particular, we remind our members to notify the Secretary of Hel.A.S. on any recent change to their status. Junior members that may have recently received their PhD should become senior members in the coming General Assembly (Thessaloniki meeting). If any of your PhD students has graduated, please inform us. Also, ordinary members that may have retired during this year (or, are about to) may be exempt from paying annual fees in the future, upon request.

3. School of Statistics for Astrophysics 2015

The second session of the School of Statistics for Astrophysics will take place in Les Houches, France (11-16 October, 2015) and is devoted to clustering and classification. The objective of the School of Astrostatistics 2015 is to train astronomers to the use of a large range of statistical and algorithmic approaches of unsupervised and supervised classification, from the most basic to the state-of-the-art ones, including spatial clustering, the clustering of variables and graphical methods. For more information please visit the school's web-site:

4. Conference Honoring the Career of Costas Alissandrakis

On the occasion of the forthcoming retirement of Prof. Costas Alissandrakis, an international solar physics conference entitled “Multi-wavelength Studies of the Solar Atmosphere: Celebrating the Career of Costas Alissandrakis” will be held in Ioannina, Greece, 21-24 September 2015.

The conference will focus on our understanding of the solar atmosphere through observations and modeling. Speakers will address the present state of knowledge of topics such as the quiet Sun, coronal/chromospheric heating, properties and measurements of solar magnetic fields, active regions, flares, coronal mass ejections, and shocks. Recent and forthcoming developments in instrumentation will also be discussed.

The deadline for registration and abstract submission is July 20, 2015. More information can be found at the conference's web-site:
