1. Short News

We would like to congratulate our distinguished member Prof. Chryssa Kouveliotou on her recent election as President of IAU Division D. The GC wishes Prof. Kouveliotou a very successfull term in office.

 
2. 12th Hel.A.S. Conference

The 12th Conference of our Society took place last week in Thessaloniki and, despite recent developments on the financial front, was a great success! Over 150 participants attended and the scientific level was - as always - exceptional. The GC of our society, the SOC and the LOC wishes to thank all participants for actively supporting our conference. In the coming days the conference's web-site will be updated, including photos and minutes from the July 1st General Assembly of Hel.A.S.

 
3. PhD positions at the National Observatory of Athens

The Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS) of the National Observatory of Athens invites applications for two PhD positions in the framework of the ESA program "Hubble Catalog of Variables". The projects are related to identifying and characterizing variable stars in the Hubble Source Catalog (HSC). Applicants with previous experience in stellar variability (detection algorithms, light curve analysis, characterization of variables), photometry, HST data or a related field are particularly encouraged to apply. 4. Space Science Vacancy at Airbus

Airbus Group has announced a vacancy for a "Space Science Mission Systems Engineer". The successfull candidate will work in the science missions department (predominantly ESA projects). A 2-3 years experience with instruments is required. Detailed information can be found here
