  1. SHORT NEWS
  -------------
    We would like to congratulate  Dr. John Papamastorakis who was
  recently promoted to Professor at the Department of Physics of the
  University of Crete.

  2. MEMBERS IN NEW POSITIONS
  ---------------------------

    Dr. Eleni Chatzichristou moved to the Institute of Astronomy and
  Astrophysics of the National Observatory of Athens on a three year
  Marie Curie International Reintegration Grant.

  3. KEFALLINIA HelAS 7th CONFERENCE PROGRAMM
  -------------------------------------------

    The general programm of the Kefallinia, September 8-10, 2005
  HelAS 7th conference can be found at :

  outlining the days of the various sessions, plenary speakers,
  Symposia, etc. Pls note that :
  1) All participants, including graduate students and members of the
  SOC, have to arrange by themselves very soon for their travel to
  Lixouri and their accommodation there (consult the conference webpage).
  2) Tickets to and from Lixouri have to be bought in advance (the
  latest in the begining of August) since it is a high season.
  3) Our graduate students who have asked for financial assistance
  will be supported by HelAS with Û 50,00 per day for 4 days.

  4. ACCESS TO INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH FACILITIES
  ----------------------------------------------

    Dr. Mathioudakis has been awarded 10 days of observing time at the
  Dunn Solar Telescope at Sacramento Peak National Solar Observatory
  (SP/NSO) in New Mexico. During this observing program he will be
  using the Rapid Dual Imager (RDI) (with the AO system) for the study
  of "Rapid Variations in the Solar Atmosphere".  RDI is an instrument
  built by Queens University Belfast. If any member of the Society
  wish to use this instrumnet they are advised to contact
  Dr. M. Mathioudakis.
