The files regarding the Hellenic Astronomical Society reside in the web server of the Section of Astrophysics, Astronomy and Mechanics at the Department of Physics of the University of Thessaloniki in Greece. The original files were created by V. Charmandaris and hit the web for the first time on December 10, 1996.

To facilitate access to those pages for users who live outside Greece, for the first 10 years a mirror server had been set up in Cambridge, Massachusetts - U.S.A., using resources which were kindly provided by the Hellenic Resources Institute. The Society is greatful for this service, which is no longer necessary given the stability and increased bandwidth available in Greece over the past five years. On March 2007 the helas.gr domain name was reserved and a major "facelift" of the webpages took place. These changes included the development of a mySQL database for the members and the electronic newsletters of the Society along with a complete bilingual (english and greek) text for the whole server.
